Shelley Kirby

Therapist Intern

Shelley offers counselling sessions by video or phone on Wednesdays and Fridays.

She is dedicated to providing her clients with a warm, supportive space where they can feel heard, respected, and understood. Her client-centred approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that healing happens through meaningful human connection.

For more than 20 years, she has supported people from diverse cultural backgrounds, both in Canadian and international settings. Eager to understand and value others’ perspectives, inclusivity and acceptance are an integral part of her practice. Much of her life’s work has focused on partnering with individuals and communities experiencing marginalization, transition, grief, and loss. She currently works in a rehabilitation hospital, supporting patients and families through complex health journeys and significant life changes. Shelley has also supported those in palliative care and hospice, where she developed a deep appreciation for the strength and vulnerability people carry during difficult times.

Shelley understands that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, and she strives to create a space where clients can show up exactly as they are. Her work is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect for each person’s unique story and experiences.

Outside of her professional life, she finds joy in crocheting, sharing coffee with family and friends, and taking road trips whenever she gets the chance — small bursts of connection and creativity that help keep her grounded and inspired. Shelley is based in Kingston, ON.
