Afsaneh Amiri

Therapist Intern

Afsaneh sees clients virtually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays by video or phone.


Afsaneh offers a warm, compassionate, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental space where people can feel safe to talk about their experiences, emotions, and personal stories. She takes a person-centred and relational approach, supporting people through grief and loss, trauma, life transitions, serious illness, caregiving challenges, and emotional distress. She is passionate about holistic care, meaningful connection, and supporting people from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds.


Afsaneh is a Spiritual Care Practitioner with experience in hospital, palliative, and elder care. She volunteers with the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), providing companionship and emotional support to older adults during hospitalization. She also brings extensive experience in community mentoring, including developing mentoring programs and training and supporting volunteer mentors.


Afsaneh holds a Graduate Certificate in Care and Counselling from Heritage College & Seminary and a CASC Basic Unit in Clinical Psychospiritual Education, with additional training in trauma-informed and grief care. She is currently completing graduate-level coursework at Wilfrid Laurier University in preparation for pursuing a Master of Psychospiritual Studies. She holds a PhD in Chemistry and has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Afsaneh provides support in English and Farsi.
